Who are Hospice volunteers

  • They are different special people, doing extra ordinary things for the patients
  • They are men and women of all ages, interests and abilities, who share a common passion to extend their hands to patients and families, to meet their various needs during the life limiting illness.


Requirements to be a volunteer

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Complete the application process
  • Be in good health (EHH provides TB screening)
  • Have transportation
  • Attend training (composed of 4-12 hours, depending on area of volunteer)


Areas of volunteer

1. Administrative/Office Help: This consists of assisting with various simple work at the office site or activities outside the office like fundraising/special events, typing, computer work, filing, copying, etc.

2. Patient Visits: Visits patients at home or elsewhere in the long term care/assisted facility or hospital. Tasks like reading to the patient, playing cards, or simply just being there to have someone for the patient to talk to.

3. Patient's Errands: For example, grocery shopping, going to the post office, accompanying the patient to the beauty shop, doctors visits, etc.
